Personal Message from Dr. Andrew Shiller
I grew up in a small town in Connecticut, the son of a pediatrician who made house calls with a black doctor bag in the car’s trunk. I have immersed myself in the world of healing and medicine for a long time.
Engineering training at MIT taught me to understand complex systems and how energy/information flows through them. It was an excellent background for a holistic understanding of disease, health, and well-being.
I earned my M.D. at Duke University School of Medicine. I went on to Harvard Medical School, where I completed double residency training in Internal Medicine and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (comprehensive knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of the brain, bones, muscles, nerves, joints, and soft tissues, with emphasis on improving function and quality of life).
Since the 1990s, I have studied complementary healing approaches, including nutrition, hands-on healing, movement therapy, and mind/body awareness. This page describes some of those details.
My experience in self-healing techniques and working with over 40,000 patient encounters has taught me that we all have inner healing intelligence that can be mobilized (or shut down) depending on our lifestyle choices and mindset. I encourage and inspire my patients to find their intuitive connection to this intelligence through inquiry and transformative self-healing skills training.
My goal is to understand the root cause of your symptoms and distress and to find the best solutions through detailed, integrated knowledge of how a person’s physical structure, metabolic system, and mental/emotional/spiritual system form an integrated whole in which each part influences and supports the others. I aim to help you optimize recovery and healing with various traditional, modern, and complementary therapies.
I take the time to truly connect with and understand your concerns, goals, and values. Then, we work together to find the best means to help you achieve optimal healing and reclaim your life.
