Approximately 230,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year. Although the statistics are staggering, women who stop smoking, complete self-examinations and eat a wellbalanced diet can diminish the chance of developing cancer
Self-examinations
Women are encouraged to perform monthly self-examinations of their breasts. If a woman notices a lump or the texture of her breast changes, she should contact her physician immediately.
Integrative Women's Health Program
Personalized holistic care. Experience the difference.
Women’s health so often isn’t a priority. Many women are so busy with their careers, family and home that they have little time to care for their own needs. Unfortunately, by not caring for themselves, women run the risk of becoming overworked, overstressed and ultimately ill to the detriment of their family – who they so dearly love.
Apart from female specific health conditions such as perimenopause and menopause, women are more prone to health issues such as hypothyroidism, hormone imbalances, and osteoporosis that need to be monitored on a regular basis.

Some specialized tests may be needed to access root cause analysis of any of your health concerns.
Pap Smears and Pelvic Examinations
Women who are over the age of 21 or who are sexually active should have a pap smear every three years. This helps identify any abnormalities, including cervical cancer or infection. Pelvic exams are completed to check for masses and abnormalities within the female structure.
Breast Examinations and Screenings
Annual Clinical Breast Examinations
During the annual breast examination, the physician will perform a clinical breast examination to check for lumps, bulges or changes to the breast tissue. Additionally, breast cancer screening diagnostic tests may be ordered which may include a mammogram, ultrasound, or MRI. Your physician will help guide you toward the diagnostic test that is right for you.
Thermograms and Mammograms
In addition to proper breast self-exams and physician exams, Thermography and Mammography together provide the earliest detection system for breast cancer.
Hormone Imbalances
Your integrative physician will check for hormonal imbalances using saliva tests or blood tests. If an imbalance occurs, dietary changes, herbal formulas and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy can help.
Bone Loss Testing
Osteoporosis causes your bones to become weak and brittle. Bones can fracture with increased stress including from a fall, coughing, or even bending over. The most common fractures occur in the hips, wrists or spine. Osteoporosis occurs when the body cannot create enough new bone to replace the removal of old bone. As you age, the bones begin losing the ability to store minerals.
Bone Density Tests
Your physician may recommend bone density tests if needed. A bone density test utilizes x-ray to determine how much calcium and other minerals are in the bones. Often times, the spine, hip and forearm are tested. A higher mineral content in the bone lowers the risk of fractures.
